Dashboard Key Insights

The dashboard reveals several patterns in how books are priced, reviewed, and received by readers. Fiction books tend to gather reviews at a lower cost compared to non-fiction, which typically has fewer reviews but higher prices. While the average book price across genres is about $25, some authors price their books much higher, standing out from the rest.

The year-over-year growth in review volume sits at over 16 percent, suggesting strong and rising reader engagement. At the same time, prices have gradually declined since around 2015. When looking at review counts, titles like Unbroken, To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Fault in Our Stars are clear standouts. The bubble chart helps illustrate just how concentrated popularity is around a small group of titles, while most others remain far behind.

There are also clear spikes in review activity around 2015 and 2020, which may point to shifts in consumer habits or events that drove certain books into the spotlight. Fiction leads in overall volume of reviews, but non-fiction continues to command higher prices. Together, these insights offer a closer look at how the book market is evolving and what kinds of stories and authors are capturing the most attention.
